Like many good stories, OceanKita was born of a meeting of minds. David (CEO of O5 Marine) and Nicolas
met at a seminar on Circular Economy and Plastics in Jakarta at the end of 2018
and decided to collaborate together to tackle the problem...
Beginning with Thomsea’s trawl-nets as a proven solution to clean-up water bodies,
OceanKita is progressively expanding its activities, aggregating other solutions and reinforcing its team
Established in 2018

We promote productive activities, decent jobs, creativity and innovation (target 8.3) in the field of SWM
It is in our DNA to aim for resource efficiency particularly in production and, by doing so, to demonstrate it is possible to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation (target 8.4)
We are careful to provide safe and secure environment for our workers (target 8.8) active in water bodies and in processing facilities.
SDG 9
Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure
Based and active in developing countries, OceanKita’s activities contribute to the development of the small-scale industrial network of sustainable and resilient enterprises and infrastructure (targets 9.3 and 9a) and support domestic technology development, research and innovation (target 9b)
A ReForm facility is typical of an upgraded facility, implementing sustainable and resource-use efficiency. The process includes clean and environmentally sound technologies (target 9.4)
SDG 11
Sustainable Cities & Communities
Cleaning river and coastline environments, we contribute to facilitate the transformation of local urbanization, making it inclusive and sustainable, enabling participatory, integrated and sustainable human settlement (targets 11.3 and 11a)
We put all possible efforts to safeguard natural heritage (target 11.4) and pay special attention to waste management (target 11.6)
Keeping the rivers clean, we contribute to prevent possible deaths or, at least, people affected by water-related disasters, with a focus on protecting the poor and people in vulnerable situations (target 11.5)
SDG 12
Responsible Consumption
At OceanKita, we take action in sustainable production (target 12.1), strengthening local scientific and technological capacity (target 12a). We adapt our equipments with local resources such as bamboo, natural or recycled threads (target 12.2)
We obviously and substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse (target 12.5)
SDG 13
Climate Change
Not always well known, marine debris accumulation increases climate change: microplastics in water, under solar radiation, emit Green House Gases (GHG): methane and ethylene. At OceanKita, we collect marine debris
Sustenea specialises in clean energy, energy efficiency and environmental issues. Our activities are always conducted to minimize impact on climate change (target 13.2)
We are active in education and awareness (target 13.3)
SDG 14
Life below Water
Goal 14 is OUR goal, it is why we have established OceanKita
We prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution, from land or ocean-based activities, especially marine debris but also hydrocarbon pollution (target 14.1). We protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant adverse impacts, including by strengthening their resilience (target 14.2)
By participating in studies, we gather data and contribute to scientific knowledge (target 14a)
